Website Accessibility

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment websites follow guidelines on accessibility set out by the W3C (the World Wide Web Consortium). The W3C WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) produces accessibility guidelines that are an internationally recognised benchmark of accessibility.

In designing these sites, we have attempted to meet the WAI's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 requirements (success criteria) and techniques.

Resizing text in your browser

Please note that you can resize text using your browser:

  • for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, select Text size from the View menu
  • or hold the Control key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse
  • if you are using another browser, please refer to your browser Help to learn how to resize text.

Current technologies

These websites use W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) technologies, wherever possible. Pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS2, ensuring that they work with a wide variety of browsers.

The sites also make use of the following non-W3C technology:

  • Portable Document Format (PDF): Certain documents on this site are available only in this format, which requires you to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. Some older PDFs created before Adobe Acrobat version 5 may not comply with accessibility guidelines.

If you cannot access the information in any PDF document please contact [email protected].

Further information

If you feel that this website could be easier to use, or you have difficulty accessing any information or find that any part of the site is not accessible, please email [email protected] and put “Website accessibility” in the subject line.

The NCCA will continue to closely monitor developments and changes in WAI guidelines and general website best practice.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is committed to making its websites accessible to all people, regardless of ability.
